| Why we enjoy wide support |
| High-quality data communications at the lowest possible cost |
| Wireless communication media like PHS and cellular phones operate on bands with fixed frequencies. To enable effective communications within this limited bandwidth, the micro-cell system divides large areas into smaller cells. WILLCOM has approximately 160,000 cell stations located across Japan to guarantee high-quality communication even when used by large numbers of customers. |
| By using multiple cell stations to cover the same area, the micro-cell network can use adjacent cell stations to cover areas should a cell fail, and it recovers more quickly as well. Should disaster strike and traffic rise, the network allocates calls evenly among the surrounding stations, reducing the risk of congested lines. |
| Little effect on medical equipment etc. |
| PHS, with its characteristically weak electromagnetic waves, has gained popularity as a communications tool in over 3,000 medical and nursing care facilities, as well as among emergency staff. WILLCOM offers a wide range of programs and solutions that meet the diverse communications needs of our customers, for example, "Anshinda Phone" services that restrict outgoing calls to specific numbers. |
SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) is a measure of the amount of energy absorbed by the human body when exposed to radio waves and is expressed as a relative rate to indicate the average level of radio waves absorbed by the human head. WILLCOM's micro-cell system reduces the distance between the central exchange and the cell stations, resulting in a very low standard SAR value. |
| Clear transmission, even for hard-to-hear voices |
| The WILLCOM micro-cell system is able to transmit large volumes of audio data at low cost, and it uses the same "ADPCM" compression technology as music CDs to maintain audio quality. Thanks to the low compression rates for both the transmission and reception of voice data WILLCOM achieves excellent voice quality with high fidelity to the original. |
Wider voice data bandwidth provides a higher Quality of voice ciary |
| Nationwide service in Japan |
| WILLCOM’s service areas are not limited to metropolitan areas but cover a nationwidearea of suburbs. With antennas placed overa wide area of subway stations andunderground malls, customers can accessour services anytime, anywhere. We arecurrently planning further expansion of theaccess area. |

| PHS goes global |
Japan’s PHS technology is gaining its market In China as well as in other Asian countriesWhere people have experienced rapid andContinued economic development.International roaming services are nowavailable in Thailand and Taiwan. We willcontinue to explore the opportunities toAchieve a globally ubiquitous society. |
| "FMC & Next-generation PHS" |
| WILLCOM is committed to providing its customers with the best possible communications environment, integrating fixed-line and mobile phone networks, and combining micro-cell, nano-cell, wireless LAN and ADSL technologies. |
