| WILLCOM and ZTE Sign Memorandum of Understanding Regarding the Joint Examination of XGP Technology

WILLCOM and the China-based general communications equipment manufacturer ZTE Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the joint examination of XGP technology, next-generation PHS technology.
ZTE Corporation possesses the latest wireless broadband technology and is a general communications equipment manufacturer that provides wireless access, CN, transmission systems, value added services (VAS), and mobile phones and PHS handsets to more than 500 communication carriers in 135 countries and regions throughout the world.
When working toward the commercialization of XGP as broadband wireless access (BWA) technology, WILLCOM will be responsible for various activities including providing technological information, and both companies will examine the joint development of XGP technology.
Furthermore, the objective of this partnership is to develop next-generation wireless technology using ZTE Corporation’s general technological capabilities, and efforts will be made to strengthen cooperation between the two companies with an eye toward also entering overseas markets, such as China.
