WILLCOM and Baidu are pleased to announce the Baidu PHS Rental Service, a service that makes it possible to receive support in Chinese within Japan for Chinese speaking users visiting Japan on business or for pleasures. Customers may apply for the service in advance through the online service website, and can pick up their WILLCOM PHS rental handsets at service counters established at the three major domestic airports in Japan.
The new service, the first between the two companies in a tie-up which was announced in September,
is being provided in cooperation with major mobile phone rental company Telecom Square. Customers are able to apply for the service online before they arrive in Japan and are able to pick up their WILLCOM PHS handsets at mobile center counters operated by Telecom Square and located at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 at Narita International Airport, Kansai International Airport, and the Fukuoka International Terminal.
Making use of each other’s technological and specialized know-how, Baidu and WILLCOM will work together on various fronts including examining mobile information services and a business model for PHS that is spreading between Japan and China.
