DDI
POCKET Launches
, 64kbps Wireless Data Communications Functionality Built-Into
PCs |
Introducing
Fujitsu's FMV-BIBLO LOOX with H"IN
Users are able to subscribe to DDI POCKET services on-line
and use H"LINK functionalities |
| DDI POCKET,
Inc. is pleased to announce today the launch of the H"IN
(pronounced "Edge In") built-in products, enabling wireless
data communications at 64kbps. The first H"IN built in
PC is the FMV-BIBLO LOOX, a notebook PC manufactured by
and to be released from Fujitsu Ltd. H"IN brings to users
the following service features in addition to data communications
at 64kbps. |

| 1. Online Subscriptions
to DDI POCKET Services |

Users generally sign subscriptions
to DDI POCKET services at the shops where they have bought
their handsets. However, users who buy Fujitsu's FMV-BIBLO
LOOX with a built-in H"IN do not need to apply for subscriptions
at the time of their purchase, but are able to subscribe
online when they set up their PCs or start using the mobile
communications function.
Users are able to sign up by clicking on the H"IN Sign
Up icon that is displayed on their PC, and from there,
they are automatically connected to the DDI POCKET Center
where their required items entered, processed and uploaded.
During this process, the PC also receives a phone number
assigned to the user and the number will be entered into
the PC. |

H"LINK is a functionality
that enables users to access their e-mails and web content
from their handsets alone. H"IN also includes H"LINK,
and the FMV-BIBLO LOOX will be able to receive e-mails
directly and access the Internet.
H"IN also comes with function to send notify messages
when receiving e-mails and to receive the e-mails when
they arrive at the Center, and users do not need to access
their e-mail box to check if they have received any e-mails.
The three characteristics of PHS - low power, high-speed,
and low price - will be a major advantage when information
appliances and home appliances converge and require an
user friendly interface.
Regarding the interface with the information appliances,
there are devices such as communication card terminals
and tele-metering terminals that are specialized for data
communications, and there are semi-converged terminals
where batteries and connection interfaces are shared over
different terminal functionalities that have already been
commercialized. In the area of home electronics, the usage
of rich content such as music and images in the future
will be realized through communication devices that have
converged the functionalities of home appliances into
them.
DDI POCKET positions the integration of H"IN into FMV-BIBLO
LOOX as a beginning of a full convergence between information
appliances and communication lines, and it has been released
with an aim to upgrade user conveniences further today. |
