POCKET Launches PRIN, Internet Connection Service for
POCKET Users |
| DDI POCKET,
Inc. is pleased to announce that it has reported the provision
of PRIN (PRovider INcluded), an internet connection service
for POCKET users, to the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.
Launch is scheduled for Tuesday, May 16, after fulfilling
administrative process requirements. |


DDI POCKET provides two
types of data communications. Users are able to access
e-mails, web sites and benefit from web-based information
services, on their PHS handsets. They are also able to
combine H" and a card device, or use other types of handsets
that work with a card device, for full use of the internet.
Traffic volume of the latter type has been increasing
since the launch of the 64kbps data communication service.
Its user base is broadening as well, to include not only
businessmen, but women and students. |
| In the future, the user
base is expected to expand further. DDI POCKET sees a
need to provide an environment that encourages internet
beginners to access, and as such, will be providing a
user-friendly internet access service. |

DDI POCKET
customers are able to access the Internet with an information
tool such as a PC or a PDA, and a POCKET handsets such
as H" and a card device, or a combination of other types
of handsets and a card device. They do not need to sign
up with an ISP. They do not have to fill in subscription
forms for becoming a PRIN user. |

Users need
to dial an access number provided to them for PRIN service,
and enter the shared ID and password. In the future, this
process may become unnecessary. |

Users will
be charged communications fees only for PRIN. (15 yen/60
seconds, uniform nationwide). There will be no charges
such as base fees or a registeration fee. |

| DDI POCKET will encourage
further non-voice communications, through the provision
of a service that is low fee and high-speed and winning
