POCKET Launches Location Information Content Service,
Providing Content to Match Users' Location |
DDI POCKET,
Inc. will launch a Location Information Content service
where users will be able to retrieve various data (text
and simple images) to match their locations provided on
their H" and other handsets supporting P-Mail DX alone.
The launch is scheduled for on Thursday, January 20.
Content Service provides to users information regardless
of location. Location Information Service notifies users'
location (latitude, longitude) to content providers, which
allows them to focus the content that benefits users at
their location, as well as providing information with
higher value.
The location of users are notified to providers by activating
the LI (Location Information) function, a function that
activates the handset's recognition of the base stations
and their electric intensity, included in H" and other
handsets that support P-mail DX service, presently more
than 1.8 million in use. |

| By activating the LI function
in the users' handset, the function automatically notifies
the DDI POCKET Center the data of the base stations (ID
of several base stations and electric intensity) captured
by the handset. DDI POCKET Center notifies the location
of users (latitude and longitude) to content providers.
The content providers, based on the location data, will
be able to extract information that will be useful to
users in their location, and provide information with
higher value. |
