Pocket Launches Moji Denwa "Character Telephone", Short
Messaging Terminal |
The DDI
POCKET TELEPHONE Group will launch the Moji Denwa (Character
Telephone) service, a new PHS service enabling simple
e-mail. Dedicated "Character Telephone" terminals will
be released by Toshiba Corporation and Tomy Co., Ltd.
Launch is scheduled on a nationwide basis for Thursday,
February 18.
Moji Denwa (Character Telephone) is a service that uses
the functions of data communications and text communications,
which are features of PHS. Service is limited to two-way
direct communication of text mail, as well as handwritten
characters and figures between dedicated terminals, transmission
and receipt of Internet mail via centers (P-Mail DX centers),
and the receipt of text and other content (information
service). This service is not applicable to voice communications.
Mascots Che Chuyan, in addition to Vivianne Soo, who is
already being employed as a character for P-Mail and P-Mail
DX, will promote the new Character Telephone service.
The DDI POCKET TELEPHONE Group plans to broadcast a TV
commercial employing these characters from mid-February
and aims to actively promote this new service. |
